Our days with Simone pass by with great joy. She is able to communicate with us more and more. She does better and better at Starfall, a great site for children (Thanks Pallavi!). When I come home from work, she says 'Daddy can you take your shoes off'? She then used to carry my dirty socks to the hamper(we stopped that practice). If she is close to the door she insisted on pulling the shoelaces, and one time that my shoelaces got tangled she got very annoyed and started to squeal.
She wants to do everything herself. I cannot hand her the milk bottle, it must be placed on the sidetable and she will then pick it up. Food has to be placed a certain way. Toys must be placed a certain way.
Simone is starting to outgrow toys now. Certain alphabet and animal picture games, she already knows all of them and we now have to find more difficult games for her. She loves to have books read to her.
Today Rashmi was very pleased because Simone patiently waited while Rashmi ate dinner. Simone is learning the most valuable of skills, delayed self-gratification. That is the single most important thing a parent can teach a child, self-control.
Simone switches between languages effortlessly, she says 'talcos' when she wants talc powder, 'agua' when she wants water. Of course, it backfires sometimes. Last week she was prancing around the apartment, saying 'caminar caminar caminar'. Our visitors were horrified, because that sounds like 'kameena' which means thief, rogue or scoundrel. They were like, why is she calling us that?
