Last days of infanthood

For every parent, a child's milestone is an occasion for happiness and heartache. Simone is making the final steps from infancy to toddlerhood. She stands for a few seconds at a time, which presages the time when she will start to walk around.

I have seen so many Simones in the past few months. When she was born, all she did was look at us, and blinking. She would flail around and scare herself. Then she started to scoot along on the bed, followed by turning over, then sitting up, then crawling, then standing.

A child changes the most in the first one year of life. I am so glad we have taken a lot of pictures and video because otherwise we would not remember 10% of what happened.

Our latest acquisition is a Canon Vixia HF-100, a camcorder that records to Flash memory. The best part is the software that automatically exports it to web format so that we can share it with our parents and friends.

As of today, Simone points to what she wants, she says the word 'baby', she can clap when we clap, she gives us high five, and can press buttons on the elevator. Tomorrow, she will use a computer, send text messages, and think her father is very uncool(her mom already thinks this).
