Simone gets an iPad - as told by daddy

One of my favorite jaunts with Simone was a trip to the Grove where we would visit the Apple store. She would sit up on the desk, pick up an iPad and start playing with it. She really enjoyed it. Amid frequent squeals of 'I WILL DO IT', she would try to navigate around the iPad screen.

The iPad came out in March or so. My job changed and we held off on spending money for a few months, but then we decided that it was the right time, and off we went to buy the iPad.

Simone was riding her tricycle at the time, she has since moved up to a bicycle with training wheels. She took her credit card (a plastic card that is not a real credit card) with her to shop.

Simone rolled in to the store on her tricycle, ready to do her part to stimulate the American economy.

We went into the store, and found a salesman. We prompted her, and she told him she wanted an iPad. He asked her if she wanted 3G or Wi-Fi. The thing with Simone is, if you give her a choice, she picks the second one that is offered. So she said Wi-Fi. We discussed buying a case, and went upstairs to try out the cases. The salesman said he would find a unit and come find us. We went upstairs by the elevator in the back.




The salesman found us and asked us how we would like to pay for it. We prompted Simone to hand over her credit card. I also slipped the salesman a real credit card, but Simone caught me and said 'Why did you give him a card?'

I said it was so the salesman could clean it for me. She was satisfied by the answer. She then put the iPad into the cargo hold behind her tricycle seat and pedaled off.




It was so cute, to see little Simone bunny ride through the store with the iPad in the trunk. It reminds me of how quickly she is growing-she is already on a bicycle, and you can't ride a bicycle through the store.



The iPad has quickly become one of Simone's favorite toys. We have bought several apps, such as Angry Birds,and she is figuring out how to use it. Angry Birds needs a bit of strategy and manual dexterity which she does not fully have but she is learning. We have also downloaded some games that she enjoys. For my part, I think I need to download some more games and apps for her.
